Empowering change and

breaking the cycle.

Healing intergenerational trauma

Hola! I am Viridiana Rodriguez, a Latina Licensed Clinical Social Worker, daughter of immigrant parents, sister, Tia (aunt) but most importantly a human being just like you.

I’m Mexican-American raised in Anaheim, California, and from Guadalajara, Jalisco. I’m the youngest in my family and first generation in breaking many cycles. Although my family valued education deeply and supported my success, there was an overall lack of support for my emotional needs. Both my parents were and are emotionally unavailable, and it has hugely impacted my life.

Like me, you were probably told that your voice or opinion doesn’t matter. These unhealthy childhood narratives can build emotions of insecurity, frustration, confusion, lack of worth, and so much more. These heavy emotions get stored in the body and can develop into chronic pain and mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

I would question many culture norms and core beliefs, that at times I doubted myself, because I didn’t see an example within my family. The constant feeling of not being good enough is an intergenerational pattern that stops with me. I’m doing the work to pave the way for future generations. I started my healing journey with individual therapy sessions, reiki healing, breathwork and EMDR sessions. Today, I embrace a life of authenticity and personal growth as a therapist. I recognize the importance of prioritizing my own healing journey and doing so, I am able to better serve my clients, embodying the principles I advocate, and wholeheartedly practicing what I preach.

Owning your story
is the bravest thing
you’ll ever do.

My Journey

Viridiana Rodriguez, Licensed clinical social worker

I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2016 and launched my career with Orange County Department of Education in 2013. Through the 10 years of serving as a school-based mental health provider, I supported the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD), Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) and the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD).

My mission has always been to give back to the community I grew up in, and to provide the support that I had been missing in my own youth. Working in Anaheim for the AUHSD, where I attended school, was the truly the best blessing and gift. I felt like my life had come full circle, and my personal healing from those years was immense. My inner-child felt so seen and proud of this milestone in my career.

In 2022, I decided to take a leap of faith and launch my own private practice. Amar Therapy, A Licensed Clinical Social Worker Professional Corporation. The world of entrepreneurship is such a foreign language for me, however, I have the courage and passion to create change in this world that out weights the discomfort. I have often said to many interns I supervised in the past, be the change you want to see in this world and here I am being that change for my family, ancestors, community and future generations. I’m paving the way and leading by example!

Most recently, in August of 2023 I started my journey as a professor at Cal State LA. As an adjunct professor, I teach field practicum class for first year students in their master of social work program.

My niche & education

I provide individual therapy services to adults (18 yrs. & older) who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma related behaviors, relationship and self-esteem issues. I offer mind and body interventions in treatment as a way to install change, self-awareness and hope.

I received my AA in Sociology from Fullerton Community College and my Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from California State Fullerton. I received my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Southern California. I completed my Master’s with a concentration in Families & Children and sub-concentration in Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC).

I am founder and owner of Amar Therapy Inc. and Amarte Community, LLC.

You can reach me directly at viridiana@amartherapy.com.

I am so glad you are here, and invite you to reach out if I can help in any way.

Con amar,

Viri

Be the change you want to see in this world.
